Yesterday @LisaMcClure @MariaBrophy & I were sitting on the beach watching @DrewBrophy surf some killer set waves. The subject of @BlogWorldExpo came up. Maria decided to go based upon our recommendation but she also wanted to know why we would be going for our 4th year in a row?

Well, we had to be honest with her. We have no idea what to expect, what new trend we will notice, what old friend we will get to love up or what online friend we will finally get to meet in real life ... serendipity perhaps?

We sure as hell don't go for the gambling, and with Lisa fully pregnant we won't be doing much partying. I would like to try indoor skydiving if anyone is up for that? Why do we go to Blog World Expo?

I start my day with Reader on my iPhone, 1st stop, scan trending topics feeds, next scan friends shared items, then the blogs that I have subscriptions for, lastly mark all as read.

If I do not make it thru my list, due to time constraints or whatever, I still mark all as read.

Conversational media is a stream, you dive in, you swim around, you get back out, rinse and repeat.

@Twitter launchs embedable tweets, so in much the same way you would embed any other snipit of rich media into your website. now you will be able to do it with tweets, as noted in the video below on how to embed a @youtube video.

Don't you just hate it when you embed a Youtube video, and when you view the page via your iPhone you get the stupid this is a flash embed block thingy? Me too, here is the fix.

1) the vid has to be available for mobile devices

if it's your vid this is easy to check, edit your video and make sure it is available for syndication.

2) make sure that "Enable privacy-enhanced mode" is Un-checked when you generate your embed.

Once you have done these two things, your youtube embeded videos will be ready to go for viewing via your iPhone.

Step 1 - Research a Cache Location

Geocaching is just like real estate - location, location, location! It is common for geocachers to hide caches in locations that are important to them, reflecting a special interest or skill of the cache owner. These unique locations on the planet can be quite diverse. A prime camping spot, great viewpoint, unusual location, etc. are all good places to hide a cache.

• Does it meet all requirements and geocaching guidelines to be listed on the site? Make sure to review these during your research. Issues of concern include cache saturation, commerciality, solicitation and long-term cache maintenance.
• Did you consider accessibility? If it is too visible or too close to busy roads and trails, there is a good chance someone may stumble upon it by accident. It is best to place a cache just off trail to preserve the environment but keep it out of sight of people casually passing by.
• Did you seek permission from the land owner or manager? If you place a cache on private land, you must ask permission before hiding your cache. If you place it on public lands, contact the land manager to find out about any rules or restrictions. Please note: You will be in violation of federal regulation by placing a cache in any area administered by the National Park Service (US). The National Park regulations are intended to protect the fragile environment, and historical and cultural areas found in the parks.
• Will the location placement cause unnecessary concern? Please use common sense when choosing a location for your cache. Do not design your cache such that it might be confused with something more dangerous.

Hashtags Protocol

• the # sign appears without a space before a short identifiable abbreviation, sometimes with reference to the year, especially for annual events
• generally the shorter the better as tweets have a 140 character limit
• #sxsw was the hashtag to follow the South by Southwest Conference, SXSW is a trademark of theirs, but hashtags on Twitter can be implemented by anyone, it is simply a matter of getting others use them as well, this is what is referred to as crowdsourcing
  

• A saved search is a great way to bookmark the hashtag for easy reference.
• You can't be everywhere at the conference and following the tag can keep you informed of discussions, panels and workshops you couldn't attend.

• As you see more and more of your fellow conference goers use the hashtag friend them up. Send them a quick @ to let them know you are there too.
